Kirkwood Car Wash was honored to participate in a recent charity event for Youth Ablaze. Kirkwood Car Wash dedicated four wash bays to this organization for most Saturday, August 8th. Proceeds went to cover expenses to attend the Youth Ablaze Conference to be held in Uganda, East Africa.

Stuart J. Brady, owner of the Kirkwood Car Wash and resident of Kirkwood, is amazed at the continued progress and growth of the community even in these challenging times. “For the newer residents, it is hard to imagine what the downtown business district was like before Kirkwood Station, much less before the BP gas station and all the other enterprises that now prosper.”
Stuart acquired the abandoned wash in 1997 and was open for business early 1998.
One important figure in the success of the car wash has been Jerome Ford. A lifetime resident of Kirkwood, Jerome was the first person that Stuart met in Kirkwood! Ever since then, Jerome has been helping out at the wash — and also at Fire Station #18 — on a daily basis.
Kirkwood Car Wash was a pouring station again this year for the Kirkwood Wine Stroll on June 18th. The gathering in Bay #1 was even more successful than last year, the inaugural year of the Stroll.

As always, “Thanks for Honoring Thy Auto @ Kirkwood Car Wash!”
1. Tire Clean. Do your wheels and tires first while everything is still dry. That way, chemical is more concentrated and will loosen up the brake dust and grime.
2. Pre-Soak, Low pressure. This is probably the most important step. Direct the wand from side-to-side and spray the car from the bottom to the top. I recommend going around the car twice: it increases the dwell time and ensures a better application.
3. High Pressure Soap. The goal in this step is to blow off the dirt and grime that the tire clean and pre-soak have been loosening up.
4. Hogs Hair Foam Brush. This is the softest and best kind of brush you can put on your car. Start at the bottom and work your way up by doing small circular motion. Hit your wheels and tires last, to not transfer any remaining brake dust back to your car.
5. High Pressure Rinse. Do this from the top down.
6. Low Pressure Wax. Apply this from the bottom up. I also recommend 2 thorough coats of wax.
7. High Pressure Rinse. To rinse off the wax.
Congratulations! You have just learned to “Honor Thy Auto” @ Kirkwood Car Wash.
As a consumer of self service car washes all my life, and looking for my next gig, I came across this closed down, abandoned car wash facility 13 years ago.
Owning and operating a business that is open 24/7/365 in an in-town neighborhood can be challenging. My goal is to provide a clean, efficient, well-stocked facility for the customers that prefer to “Honor Thy Auto” themselves.
I hope you will come visit Kirkwood Car Wash today and give it a try. I appreciate your business!
If you ever have a problem at my wash, please let me know. When it is a good experience — please tell a friend!
